3/31/2024 0 Comments Rome total war 2 factions guideThe Romans are the tutorial faction for a reason - they're not just the poster boys, they're easy to learn the game with. Newer players might get completely turned off if they have to carefully manage pike blocks, Skirmishers and/or plain bad melee infantry due to not understanding the maths and mechanics behind the game (for example it might be confusing as well as demoralising to not understand why your low-tier barbarian infantry are getting their butts handed to them when they fight Romans). If you take a faction that relies on having good core macro at a battle line level, you're going to struggle. This leaves the player free to take a breather and start developing their skills at micro, by using cavalry to perform flanking and ambush manoeuvres, auxiliaries to explore different unit types and basically run through how the mechanics of the game work. I'd agree wholeheartedly with the above Rome is probably the best starting faction if I'm honest.Ī heavy infantry-oriented faction with strong supporting units tends to be the easiest to pick up if you're new managing battle lines is a daunting prospect for an inexperienced player, and Rome basically removes that tricky prospect due to their strong, reliable and superior heavy melee infantry.
